Don't Kiss

Today India's top court suspended an arrest warrant against Hollywood star Richard Gere, wanted for allegedly breaking public obscenity laws.

Gere embraced and kissed Shetty on her cheek at the public AIDS awareness event in New Delhi on April 15 last year.

Shetty, a well-known actress in India, became an international star after her appearance on the British reality show "Celebrity Big Brother."

Update on Mehdi Kazemi

As a follow-up on my post from yesterday on Mehdi Kazemi: I received an email from the UK Parliamentarian whom I sent an email plea to. You can read his response to me on Turkey & My Foreign Perspectives.

I hope you will send an email to Lord Waheed Alli and make a difference in this young man's life.

Women line up to cast their votes in Iran's parliamentary election in the Shia shrine of Massoumeh, south of Tehran.

Reach Out to Mehdi Kazemi, Iranian without a Country

With both the Netherlands and the UK refusing to grant Mehdi Kazemi the right to stay legally in their countries, he may be forced to return to Iran where sure execution will await him.

Kazemi left Iran to study in the UK in 2004, and since that time received notification that his partner and friend was executed due to their gay relationship. No matter what our personal beliefs are, we must reach out and help Kazemi in his search for a country to accept him.

The only Muslim Parliamentarian in Britain is trying to help and with your email to him, it may change the balance for one young Iranian and his sure persecution.

Please send your email to alliw @ asking to save this young man and give him a country. Thanks to you, we might help this Iranian man.

Tomorrow, I will write about another reprehensible story which readers should respond to.

Day Opening - March 14

A visit to the Venezuelan Andes causes many a tourist to break out in goose pimples. Indeed the flora and fauna is so diverse and staggeringly beautiful that some people have to pinch themselves to make sure they are not dreaming. There is much to see in the northernmost reaches of the mighty Andes mountain range and one good way to start the day is by taking a trip in the world’s longest and loftiest cable car. It ascends to an altitude of 4,765 metres.
