Recession-Proof Jobs

The global recession was realized in mid 2008, and since hitting, thousands of people have lost their jobs, taken salary cuts or are sitting fearful that their income is in jeopardy. 10 million Americans were unemployed as of October, and that number continues to climb.
Contrary to the beliefs of many, not all industries are suffering; in fact, there are some careers and jobs which will thrive in the new year. “There are still opportunities, the most abundant being in sales, customer support and accounting,” according to Forbes who put together a list of

The Most Recession-Proof Jobs based on data from Jobfox.com.

New professions added to their Top 25 job rankings were in
Medical Administrative Services, IT Security, Faculty for Higher Education, Product Management and Human Resource Generalist. Jobs on the rise include Technology Executives and Counseling/Social Work (no surprise there with the economy-fueled depression.)
Dropping from the list was Database Administration, Advertising (real world and online), Testing/Quality Assurance and Business Analysis (both research and software implementation). Falling also were Mechanical and Electrical Engineering jobs.

This trend for the USA seems to apply for the Western world in general.
